How to turn on direct messages on TikTok
TikTok allows you to send direct messages by the following settings. By turning on direct messages on TikTok, you can communicate with other TikTok users. You can enable direct messages on TikTok.
- Open the TikTok App on your iPhone or Android device
- Tap Profile present at the lower right corner.
- Tap three lines present in the upper right corner.
- Tap Settings and Privacy.
- Tap Privacy in the Account section of Settings and Privacy.
- Scroll down and find out the Interactions section of the Privacy.
- Tap Direct Messages in the section of Interactions.
There are three options for you who can send you messages:
i) Everyone ii) Followers that you follow back iii) No one
From here, you can select the setting that can send you direct messages on TikTok.
How do you DM someone on TikTok?
There are 2 methods to how you DM someone on TikTok.
1) Using the Inbox icon
- Open TikTok App on your device.
- Tap the Inbox icon placed at the lower side of the TikTok screen.
- Tap the Direct Message icon which is placed in the upper right corner
- Here you will see a list of people whom you can send a direct message to. Select any user you want to send a message to. You can also search for the user by typing the name of the user in the search bar you will send a message.
- Compose your message and tap the Arrow icon to send a message.
2) Through TikTok User’s Profile
- Tap the TikTok User Profile button on the right side of the TikTok screen
- Tap three dots present in the upper right corner of the user’s TikTok profile page
- Tap the Send message icon present on the lower side of the TikTok screen.
- Compose your message and hit the send icon to send the message
Keep in mind that if the user is not following you back, you can’t send him a message via that TikTok user.
For some users, TikTok also allows you to send three direct messages on TikTok until the user accepts your message request.
