How To Set Up TikTok Shop
Setting your TikTok Shop is a simple and straightforward process. By following these simple steps, you can set up your own TikTok Shop and start reaching out to potential customers in no time.
To get started, make sure you have the latest version of the TikTok app installed on your smartphone and fulfill the requirements for TikTok Shop.
#1. Opening TikTok Shop Page
- Go to and open the ”TikTok Shop” page on your device.
- This will open a new tab. Click on the ”Get Started” tab.
You can start setting up your TikTok shop. So are you a seller? Are you a Creator? Are you a partner or an affiliate?
- To set up a TikTok shop as a seller you, scroll down slightly and click on the ”Learn More” tab.
- By clicking on the “Learn More’‘ tab, it will go to the seller page where you can sign up for the TikTok shop.
#2. Setting up TikTok Shop Location
Are you a seller in Asia? Are you a seller in Europe? Are you a seller in North America? Pick the location where you want to set up a TikTok account.
For example, if you are a seller in North America, you will choose North America.
- Pick your TikTok shop location and click on the ”Enter” tab.
#3. Signing up For TikTok Shop
Now you can either sign up with your phone number and your password or sign up with an email. You can also log in if you already have a TikTok account.
From my personal experience, I don’t recommend linking your TikTok account with Shop while setting up a TikTok shop account. I’d recommend setting up an entirely new shop.
The reason that you want to set up an entirely new shop and not link it specifically with the same email in the same account on one of your TikTok pages is that if you set up a TikTok shop, you can always unlink a page later and relink a different page.
If you want to change your Niche or change your products, you don’t want to link them in the beginning in my opinion.
- Enter your Email/Phone number and click on ”Get code”.
- Enter the code for verification.
- Click the sign up now tab with an email address and a password and register as a merchant.
#4. Providing Business Information and Documents
- Select Your Business Type: In this case, we’re an individual, so we need to select a business type that is individual for TikTok Shop.
- Enter the shop name.
- Choose the primary products/service type you’re going to sell. If you’re unsure what you’re going to sell then just pick miscellaneous stores or Sporting Goods or something like that.
In my experience, this doesn’t really matter. I’ve opened up several shops and I’ve always kind of picked miscellaneous stores. But just pick the best one that you plan on selling in and what fits you the best.
#5. Providing Your Information and Documents
Whether you start one based on a sole proprietor or if you start your own business TikTok shop meaning you use your EIN or LLC.
You need to enter these so that they can identify you and the primary taxpayer registering.
- For identity verification, upload your passport or your driver’s license so that they can verify your identification.
- Enter your address and select city and state.
- Enter your Social Security number which you’d put the last four digits in.
- If you’re overseas, you can enter your ITIN number and submit all that data.
Now you have categorized your business and entered business information and personal information. On the next page, you can review everything they’ll basically ask you:
Are you a third-party subcontractor? If you’re an affiliate or you’re a business that’s running an agency for some other company then click no for the majority of you
Click on the “Confirm’‘ tab and then you can submit it. That’s how easy it is to set up a TikTok shop.
How To Create Multiple TikTok Shop Accounts
If you have already reached the limit for the number of TikTok shop accounts, TikTok will not allow you to create another TikTok Shop account. You can only open one TikTok shop per person per identity. If you want to create another TikTok shop account, you need to open up a new business or a new LLC.
You can make another TikTok shop account under my LLC using an EIN number.
You can do that by going to irs.gov and filing for a new EIN number. Keep in mind that if decide to do that it could potentially complicate your taxes.
